FAQ
Common questions about instant coffee.
How much instant coffee per cup?
2g — roughly 1 heaped teaspoon. Adjust to taste: 1 tsp for a lighter cup, 2 tsp for stronger. Unlike filter methods, instant dissolves fully so there is no extraction to manage — strength is purely a function of how much you add.
What temperature for instant coffee?
90°C — slightly lower than most hot brew methods. Instant coffee is already extracted and dried; boiling water can make it taste bitter. About 20–30 seconds off the boil, or a kettle set to 90°C, is ideal.
Does Gramage time instant coffee?
Yes. Gramage times every method including instant — not because instant needs precision, but because consistency is the point. From V60 to instant, whatever gets you through the morning, Gramage keeps the routine.
