FAQ
Common questions about brewing AeroPress.
What is the AeroPress coffee to water ratio?
15g of coffee to 250g of water — a 1:16.7 ratio. Same as V60 and Chemex, but AeroPress's full immersion and lower temperature create a different mouthfeel: smoother, less acidic, more body.
How long does AeroPress take to brew?
About 2.5 minutes total. 10 seconds to add coffee and water with three stirs, 110 seconds of steeping with the plunger inserted slightly to seal, then 30 seconds of slow pressing. The "stop at hiss" moment is when you hear air hissing — that's your signal to stop pressing.
Why is AeroPress temperature lower than V60?
AeroPress brews at 85°C vs V60's 93°C. The lower temperature, combined with full immersion and the paper filter, creates a smooth, clean cup with less acidity. It's forgiving and consistent — one reason it has the most active Reddit community of any brewing method.
